1 🏠 Who We Are

Raising A ‘Coon (operating at raisingatycoon.com) is an individual-operated Canadian website that provides financial education resources for families. We create and sell digital products (worksheets, eBooks, templates, and guides), publish educational content, earn revenue through affiliate marketing partnerships, and display advertising on our website.

When this Privacy Policy refers to “we,” “us,” or “our,” it means the individual operator of raisingatycoon.com, based in Canada.

For all privacy matters, contact us at: hello@raisingatycoon.com

2 📋 Information We Collect

We collect personal information in three ways: information you give us directly, information collected automatically when you use our website, and information received from third parties.

Information you provide directly:

  • Name and email address when subscribing to our newsletter
  • Name, email address, and billing information when purchasing a digital product
  • Any messages, feedback, or enquiries sent through our contact form

Information collected automatically:

  • Pages visited, time on site, and how you navigate our website (via Google Analytics)
  • Your IP address and approximate geographic location (country/region level)
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Referring website (how you found us)
  • Clicks on affiliate links — we and our affiliate networks track when you click a link and whether a purchase results (see Section 4)
  • Ad interactions — our advertising partners collect data about which ads you see and interact with (see Section 5)

Information from third parties:

  • Affiliate networks (Amazon Associates, ShareASale, Commission Junction, Impact) may share data about purchases made through our links
  • Payment processors (Stripe, Lemon Squeezy) share transaction confirmation data with us
  • Advertising networks may share aggregate, anonymised performance data about ads shown on our site

We do not collect: government ID numbers, financial account details, health information, or personal information directly from children under 13.

3 ⚙️ How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information only for the following purposes:

  • To process and deliver your digital product purchases
  • To send you our email newsletter and educational content (if you have subscribed)
  • To respond to your questions and support requests
  • To track affiliate link performance and earn commissions on qualifying purchases
  • To serve and optimise advertising displayed on our website
  • To analyse website traffic and improve our content and products
  • To comply with our legal obligations under Canadian law
  • To detect and prevent fraud or abuse

We will never use your information for purposes not listed here without first obtaining your explicit consent.

4 🔗 Affiliate Marketing Disclosure

Important disclosure: raisingatycoon.com participates in affiliate marketing programs. This means we may earn a commission when you click certain links on our website and make a qualifying purchase — at no extra cost to you.

We are a participant in the following affiliate programs:

  • Amazon Associates — We earn commissions on qualifying purchases made through Amazon links on our site. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
  • ShareASale — We may promote products from ShareASale merchant partners and earn a commission on qualifying sales.
  • Commission Junction (CJ Affiliate) — We may promote products from CJ merchant partners and earn a commission on qualifying sales.
  • Impact and other affiliate networks — We may work with additional affiliate partners and networks from time to time.

How affiliate tracking works: When you click an affiliate link on our website, a cookie is placed on your device by the affiliate network. This cookie allows the network to track whether you complete a purchase, so we can be credited with the referral commission. The data collected by affiliate cookies is governed by each network’s own privacy policy.

Our editorial integrity: Affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial content. We only recommend products and services we genuinely believe are useful for our readers. Any affiliate links are clearly identified or disclosed on the relevant page.

You can opt out of affiliate tracking by declining cookies when prompted, or by using browser settings or privacy tools to block tracking cookies. Note that affiliate links will still work — you just may need to accept the cookie to ensure we receive credit for the referral.

Affiliate program privacy policies:

  • Amazon: amazon.com/privacy
  • ShareASale: shareasale.com/privacy
  • CJ Affiliate: cj.com/privacy
  • Impact: impact.com/privacy

5 📢 Advertising & Ad Networks

We display third-party advertisements on our website to help fund the free content we create. We work with the following advertising partners:

  • Google AdSense — Google may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website and other sites across the internet.
  • Mediavine — Mediavine is an advertising management company that may serve ads on our site. Mediavine uses cookies and similar technologies to collect data about your browsing behaviour to serve relevant ads.
  • AdThrive / Raptive — Raptive (formerly AdThrive) may serve ads on our site and uses cookies and tracking technologies for ad targeting and measurement.
  • Other display ad networks — We may work with additional advertising partners from time to time, all of whom operate under their own privacy policies.

Interest-based advertising: Our advertising partners may use data about your browsing activity across different websites to show you ads that are more relevant to your interests. This is known as interest-based or behavioural advertising. You can opt out of interest-based advertising at any time — see below.

How to opt out of interest-based advertising:

  • Google: adssettings.google.com
  • Digital Advertising Alliance (Canada): youradchoices.ca
  • Network Advertising Initiative: optout.networkadvertising.org
  • European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance: youronlinechoices.eu

Please note that opting out of interest-based advertising does not mean you will stop seeing ads — it means the ads you see will be less targeted to your interests. Our advertising partners are contractually required to comply with applicable privacy laws and their own privacy commitments.

6 📦 Digital Products & Purchases

When you purchase a digital product from our website, we collect and process the following information to fulfil your order:

  • Your name and email address (to send your download link and purchase receipt)
  • Your billing country and postal code (for tax compliance purposes)
  • Payment information — processed securely by our payment processors; we never see or store your full card number

We use Lemon Squeezy and/or Stripe to process payments. Both are PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processors. Your payment data is handled entirely by these platforms and is subject to their privacy policies:

  • Lemon Squeezy: lemonsqueezy.com/privacy
  • Stripe: stripe.com/privacy

Purchase records are retained for 7 years as required by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for tax and accounting purposes. After this period, records are securely deleted.

International customers: Lemon Squeezy acts as a Merchant of Record for international transactions, meaning they are responsible for collecting and remitting VAT, GST, and other applicable taxes in jurisdictions where required (including the EU, UK, and Australia). Their tax collection practices are governed by their own terms and privacy policy.

7 📧 Email Marketing (CASL)

We send marketing emails to subscribers who have explicitly opted in to receive them. We operate our email marketing in compliance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), which is one of the strictest anti-spam laws in the world.

Under CASL, we will only email you if: (a) you have given us your explicit consent by subscribing via our opt-in form, or (b) you have made a purchase from us and we are sending you related product information within the permitted timeframe.

Our email marketing is managed through MailerLite. When you subscribe, your name and email address are stored on MailerLite’s servers, which are subject to MailerLite’s privacy policy at mailerlite.com/privacy.

Every marketing email we send includes:

  • A clear identification of who the email is from
  • A valid mailing address
  • A one-click unsubscribe link that works immediately

You may withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, or by emailing us at hello@raisingatycoon.com. We will process your unsubscribe request within 10 business days as required by CASL.

We track email open rates and click rates to understand which content is most useful to our subscribers. This data is collected by MailerLite and is used only to improve our newsletters. You can disable email tracking by setting your email client to not load remote images.

Managing cookies: You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or set preferences for specific websites. Note that disabling certain cookies may affect how our website functions. For more information, visit allaboutcookies.org.

Where required by law (e.g., for EU/UK visitors), we display a cookie consent banner and will only set non-essential cookies with your consent.
